In light of recent events over here in Ireland (HSE ransomware attack), we have been looking for such an inspector to trawl through a network to interrogate File Shares and Permissions. Its just a shame that this is not already an option but for sure, we would utilize this on existing and new customers to ensure everything is correctly locked down. This would also help determine what could potentially be at risk should ransomware finds its way on to a network. The more that shares and folders are locked down with the correct permissions, the less the ransomware can jump around and have an effect... Bring it on Liongard... Sooner rather than later I say! :)

We would like to see NTFS security permissions as well. Even if it's just for the root of the share as that would cover the majority of use cases for us.

I think the idea here is a little bit unclear since it provides no context or spirit to which it came from, with respect to what shipped in March 2021's Windows Server inspector update: https://ideas.liongard.com/ideas/RPM-I-69That focused on local files & permissions, not the file serve role. This idea is for the file server role. We have created a new idea https://ideas.liongard.com/ideas/RPM-I-1058 that focuses strictly on the File Server role for Windows servers. If the recent updates do not address your needs, please go and upvote this idea so we can properly gauge interest is this idea.That said, the File Server role is a substantially more interesting topic than than local files & permissions on a server. The File Server Role should contain detailed information about DFS & DFS Replias (including all pertinent information about dfs namespace, namespace version (domain mode) and so on), and of course about Network Shares and the permissions assigned to those shares, then link over to the file permissions as hosted on the server.
